Tanzania March 7th

My last day in Tanzania. I catch an eveneing flight to Amsterdam and then Atlanta. It has been quite a trip and I have enjoyed every minute of it.

Maasai in the street in Arusha.

Maasai in the street in Arusha.

Old Man in Arusha, deep in thought.

Maasai group in Arusha.

Dala Dala in Arusha

Known as Dala Dala these taxis ply the streets looking for trade. In the old days when trucks had to be cranked with a crank handle to start the driver always had a helper to crank the engine to start it. The helper was known as the Turn Boy as he turned the crank handle. This was corrupted to Tuniboy and the name stuck as a drivers helper.

Each Dala Dala has a Tuniboy that hangs out the window touting for passengers as the Dala Dala speeds along through traffic.

The Name Tanganyika still survives!.

Mpishis in the kitchen cranking out Samosas.

Me enjoying the results with a cup of Masala Chai. It will be a while before I eat Ismaili Samosas again.
