Tanzania February 22nd
Amsterdam
Sun coming up as we start to descend into Amsterdam.
The weather is a lot colder than Atlanta at 32F, but had a pretty good flight and arrived non the worse for wear.
A short layover and on to Kilimanjaro Airport in Tanzania.
Amsterdam airport is busy with lots of people hurrying to catch a flight to wherever they are going.
I walked to stretch my legs.
Lots of the High End Shops selling all sorts of treasures at exorbitant prices.
The time soon passed and it was time to board KLM for the next hop to Kilimanjaro Airport.
Not too long a wait at the gate and we were on-board and ready to go.
While the seating on Delta was quite good and comfortable, the seating on KLM was a couple of notches better.
There was definitely more room and the seat moved easily to a full flat position for sleeping. Delta seats had to be coaxed and were never completely flat.
The bedding was a little better on KLM as was the food.
It’s the small things that count. I asked for hot tea an got a cup of hot water and a teabag attached to a card. When the teabag is placed into the cup the card covers the cup to keep the water hot while the tea brews. When you take the teabag out you are not stuck looking for place to put it. You lay the card down flat with the teabag on it. Simple but effective.
After a good meal and a good nights rest, we get to the end of our outbound journey at Kilimanjaro airport and onto Arusha with Gerard. Great journey with no mishaps. One cannot ask for more than that.
Tanzania immigration was fast and efficient. I had got my entry Visa Online so the whole process of getting my bags and going through immigration and customs took about 10 minutes. The immigration office noticed I was born in Kenya and the fact I was able to communicate in Swahili probably did not hurt.
