St Joe FL May 2020
Pressnel’s Marina and Campground
May, 2020
Pressnel’s campground is clean and well kept. It has a nice pool area and a washer and dryer. Some concrete pads, but most are level sand and stone pads that are not muddy even when wet.
Bathrooms are clean with lot’s of hot water. Shower pressure is low but makes up for it with plenty of volume. Not a single shelf, basket or soap dish so nowhere to put your soap while you are showering.

Arrived late afternoon in the rain. Popped the camper up quickly and went inside and waited fro the rain to stop before unhitching and setting the camper up.
Air conditioner decided not to work. If I turned it on it would run for about 15 seconds and quit. I tried several times with the same result. Thankfully it drizzled all night and that kept the temperature down
Went into St Joe and ate at the Krazy Fish. A little pricy. I ordered the Pound of fish and got 4 very large fillets and 2 sides for $18.00. The fish was excellent.

Got up late and had an early lunch at The Sand Dollar. Southern Food served from a buffet. Not all you can eat. Had braised lamb and veggies. Was good, but a little unexpected at the beach. Owners are from Atlanta.
Drove to Lowes in Panama cIty to pick up a small evaporative cooler. It worked quite well but ran out of water in the night. As it had cooled down it was not a big deal.
Drove to Apalachicola and had a good look around and then over the bridge towards Carabelle. Turned around and took the bridge over to St. George’s Island. St George’s Island is just like what Mexico Beach was like before it got wiped out, except it has a decent down town area with lots of shops and grocery stores. Miles of beautiful sand beaches with bathing pools like Navarre. Rental houses right on the beach just like Mexico Beach had.

Lazy start to the day. Had an early lunch at the Uptown Oyster Bar and Grill. Prices were reasonable, food was not. A big basket of boiled red potatoes, a small Cole slaw and a sliver of very over cooked Mahi Mahi. Not recommended.
Spent a lazy day just bumming around Port St Joe.
Bought some hot dog buns and went down to the water to feed the seagulls. Amazing birds. They ride the air with such grace, skill and dexterity. They paid me back by crapping all over my truck so I had to find a car wash to wash the truck down.
Came back to camp a little earlier than us usual. I though maybe the fan on the air conditioner was stuck. I got a long screw driver from the truck to see if I could poke the fan to make sure it wasn’t seized. As I walked up there was a breeze blowing and I could see the fan turning in the breeze. So it wasn’t that. I turned the air conditioner on and it came on and stayed on and ran all afternoon and that night. So have no idea why it would not work when I got here.

Got up to attend Leads Group Zoom Meeting At 9:00 A.M. No one was there so I called Bruce it find they had changed it to 8:00 A.M. even though the invite says 9:00 A.M. Bruce says he does not know how to change that.
Drove to Apalachicola to eat at the Seafood Grill one of my favorite places to eat. While all the restaurants in Port St Joe are open for inside dining, the Seafood Grill was not. I understand why. They have a line out the door for customers getting take away and only have two people up front. So they are doing a roaring business with no front of the house staff costs and no cleanup. Great deal for them. Last time they hiked the price of Oyters saying the price hike was because of the oil spill in the gulf and its affect on the oyster beds. This time they had a notice at the order counter that said there was a 15% Covid 19 charge on food orders to cover the cost of Covid 19 regulations imposed by the state. AND a notice that servers were only paid $5,27 an hour and tips would be appreciated in these hard times. There was one person taking orders at the counter and she made sure to point on the receipt where I was to write in the tip. The food was mediocre compared to the Krazy Fish, so the Seafood Grill is off my list for places to eat.
Returned to the camper to deal with FUMC Lease issues and to relax.
