Bushy Branch at Cave Spring
February 19th to 21st
Tghis was not to far from home. I wanted to go to a place where Sky and I could fish.
Bushy Branch seemed like a nice place to go.
Called and spoke to Rick and he said come on down I will find a spot for you.
No deposit, just instructions to call when we were about 15 minutes out and he would meet us and show us our spot
Surprisingly the Campground was almost full. Ckearky some were permanent, but not shabby, and almost every camper was a 5th Wheel,
Sky with his first fish. He was so excited. Before we even left he made it clear that if we caught a fish he wanted to eat it for dinner. When I threw the fish back in the water he was really upset. That night he complained to his grandmother “I wanted to eat that fish to death but Pop threw the f***ing fish back into the water.”
Sky being Sky
Sandy and Sky enjoying the warmer day after a really cold night.
It got down to 29 degrees in the early morning hours and froze the water hose solid. Felt like a stick. Fortunately I had some bottled water in the truck for coffee. As it was still frozen by mid morning I removed the hose and rep[aced it with the spare hose. We once again had water but the hose did not completely thaw out until mid afternoon. Lesson learned. Disconnect the hose and empty it if it is going to freeze at night,
Rick, te campground owner, says we need a blue hose that is electrically heated to stop it freezing.
Bathrooms
Bathrooms are winterized and closed during the winter months and and re-open in April.
Entertainment.
They have movies on a Saturday evening in the park in Cave Spring. The Parke also has the largest swimming pool in the US, according to Rick, that is open in the summer and free to get into if you are camping at Bushy Branch.
